Eddie Vedder - No Ceiling
(Source: lullabyingsweetnothings)
You were made to roam.
With the wolves, you hunt. In bitter frost and cold. Do you hear the sound? The melody of your kind is in the air and keeps us awake at night. It shines into the moon, and I still hear it in my sleep, and each one is distinct.
Mine’s a whisper. Yours is coal.
Dear man, you’ve a penchant to run. And you know I can never catch up. Can never catch or throw. You come and go like the rainstorms. I hear you in my sleep, falling to pieces on my skin. The cold.
The lights I’ve saved have died. Burnt out quickly like a shiver in the night. But it’s okay.
You always find a way home.

And oh your tears are beautiful,
Shooting stars in golden sky
But all the trees are sliced to stumps.
Pictures crafted in salt
Are drawn in the grass.
Dried riverbeds
Crisscross the earth,
They are raw and angry red
But nothing flows there anymore.
This was once your world,
What did you let it do to you?
I can’t face the mirror anymore,
For fear of seeing the same.
I cover my shame in long sleeves and jeans,
Universes covered by high collars
Disguised and buried beneath bracelets,
Always underneath.
Don’t press too hard,
Don’t dig too deep.
There is a world underneath the surface
That you don’t want to see.
